International Women's Day 2019

Happy International Women's Day to all the strong, hard working women all over the world fighting to be heard. Think about women everywhere today; the ones who fight every day for basic rights, the ones who die just for a chance to be heard, about the everyday woman struggling to balance work and family and often neglecting her own self-care. Think about your mother. The strong woman who has raised you, put food in your belly, and smiled through her own hurt and pain so you never have to see that inside she is crying. Women of all shapes, colours, sizes, eras are just so amazing. Today's blog post is dedicated to a very special little girl in my life and that is my daughter Malak. I know in my heart that she will grow up to be a strong, confident, and intelligent woman who will make her whole family proud. I'm watching you right now playing on your iPad and sucking on that lollipop (note to self: get Malak to brush her teeth later) and I can see all the wonderful potentia...

Happy 4th Birthday Malak!

January 26, 2019 Another year has flown by yet again, I can't believe you are 4 already and starting school in September! Every day that passes you are getting smarter than the day before and the things you say sometimes are absolutely amazing. I love you to the moon Malak and hope this birthday was everything you hoped for and more. Having just entered into my 9th month of pregnancy I knew this party would be a bit of a challenge nonetheless I didn't want anything to get in the way of Malak's birthday (since she talks about it all year). Thank God everything came together beautifully and Malak was a happy camper. This year Malak chose a Pokemon themed birthday party. I thought that it would be simple as its so popular now (again). The thing with Pokemon items is that they are expensive! But that's never stopped me before, I enjoyed a lot of the DIY games put together and early planning to avoid disappointment. I ordered plates, loot bags, napkins, banners, straw...

Nestle Sample Box

Yesterday I received my Nestle Sample Box that I signed up for a few months ago! When you go to sign up on their website to receive it they ask you some information about yourself like your name, email, contact, and your due date for baby. When the time comes closer to you due that is when they send you the sample box. It comes in a cute little box. Just click on the link, scroll to the bottom, and press join now! https://www.nestlebaby.ca/en# Inside the box is a four pack bottle of Nestle Good Start formula milk and a bottle top.   A Huggies diaper. It's so small it's adorable! I forgot how small newborn diapers were.   A book about baby feeding guide and some coupon booklets! I found the sample box very generous and can ease some of the financial burden of buying formula by giving a few days supply. Although I am choosing to breastfeed it's always good to have formula ready on hand until you have a steady milk supply or if the breast pain ...

Limiting Screen Time

This post is dedicated to kids (and parents) with technology addictions. I have been struggling lately with a toddler who seems to be addicted to the iPad. She wants it in the morning, afternoon, and night; even sometimes falling asleep with it in her hand. Why are we struggling with limiting screen time? Disclosure: I do not own this image Parents need to stop using technology as a way to distract their kids. It always seems to be the easiest solution to get kids to be quiet. Parents need some quiet time to do some work, give the kid an iPad to distract them. Parent too tired to play with kids, hand them the iPad. Parent wants some alone time, give the kid an iPad. It's unfortunate but its true but sometimes we do not have the energy to be "on" all the time and it seems to be the quickest fix to the problem. Kids tend to copy what they see like they say "monkey see monkey do". When kids see their parent always glued to their phone, laptops, etc. Is it...

Bullet Journal

I have been debating back and forth with myself whether or not I wanted to start my own Bullet Journal. After much debate I have decided YESS! I hit up the Dollarama a while back and picked up some things to get me started. I eventually want to buy Calligraphy pens but I wanted to try it out first and see if I stick to it before going straight for the expensive stuff. Some of the stuff I picked up are: A thick paged sketchpad notebook Pens Black fine tip ink pens Double sided markers (thick + thin) Pencils Gem stickers Pencil case Metallic tape (for design purposes) The best thing I found about bullet journaling is that there isn't a set structure when normally there is. I struggled with this at first with bullet journaling as I found myself wanting to add dividers and section off things but no matter what I did with the structure it wasn't practical. You don't have to be a professional either! I was intimidated by some of the bullet journal p...

2018 in Cupcakes

You read the title correctly: 2018 in Cupcakes! Looking through my Instagram timelines and sliding through my phones pictures I noticed we made a bunch of cupcakes throughout the year. So what better way to go over 2018 then to go through all the pictures of cupcakes I found? Let's begin! During Malak's 3rd Birthday party we all decorated cupcakes as one of the activities! The kids just piled on the toppings while the rest of us tried to make something cute hahah! Malak's birthday is on January 26th but we had her birthday part on the Sunday which was the 28th! We had so much fun at Malak's Paw Patrol themed party and I know Malak had a blast <3 More gorgeous cupcakes from Malak's birthday party with my nephew Karam staring intensely at them, all he wanted to do was grab one! I know they aren't cupcakes but I had to document the gorgeous Canada Day donuts that I picked up after July 1st! I made this a my nephew Karam's 1st birt...

2018 Summer Reading List

Hello fellow bloggers, I feel like it has been a while, I have a few drafted pieces in the works but I want to work harder to committing to a blog deadline. Anyhow, I have made a goal to read more as I usually don't do any leisure reading. As a Library Settlement Worker I work for an organization but am situated in the library. All of the library staff are great and they are always reading on their breaks and frankly I am jealous as I can't ever get my head that into a book. The irony is that I am an English Language and Literature major (oops). This is where my goals come into place. I am creating a summer reading list based on other suggestions I have heard in person and all over the internet. I am going to list a bunch of books and see if I am able to fully get through or at least make a dent in the list by the end of the summer. If you have any suggestions for any great reads please leave the name in the comment below. Here we go: 2018 Summer Reading List   The H...
