Happy First Birthday Malak

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY BABY GIRL
January 26, 2015 5:20am

I cannot believe it has already been a year and what a beautiful year it has been. This year has been challenging, rewarding, and so new. I have been taking care of my own baby watching her grow this past year and being with her through her first words, first tooth, babbles, and now her first birthday. I love you so much baby girl and I know you will always make me proud!

For Malak's birthday party I invited my family over and my best friend, just a small, tight-knit group. I decided to make it a Minnie Mouse theme since I was in love with Mickey as a child and thought it would work! Everything is pink and oh so lovely :)

The morning of we had her cake smash photo session. I thought it would be better to get her dolled up and do it in the morning and leave the evening to food and family. Such a sweet little princess, she would not smash the cake though! I took a piece of it myself though hehe!

I only have two games planned for the evening since Malak is too young for any of it I thought I would entertain the fam. The first game I did is Guess Her Age, I glued pictures of Malak on bristol board at different ages of the year. Whoever guesses the most pictures right gets a prize. The second game is is guess how many kisses are in the jar and the winner gets the jar.

For food we had pizza, hot dog rolls, chicken nuggets, french fries, perogies, and tabouleh. Along with jello, creme caramel, chips, popcorn, suxai, and eclairs. Mmmm! Delicious! With the birthday cake I prepared a chocolate fondue with fruit and graham cracker tray for dipping. The birthday cake was a simple Minnie Mouse cake from Loblaw, chocolate flavoured.

She got lots of amazing gifts from our great family. She got a snow suit, dress, tennis outfit, baby and stroller, lalaloopsy, stuffed penguin, Rarity stuffed pony, and another stuffed pony, and more.

I had an amazing time and I could not have hoped for a better turn out. There was lots of food leftover and all of the family had a good time. That's all I can ask for. Love you baby girl, happy first birthday!

The Shatha Show

I am helping my sister Shatha with her new YouTube channel called The Shatha Show. The videos star Shatha opening surprises, reviewing products, or just having fun in her day. We would appreciate thumbs up on the videos and some subscriptions. The Shatha Show They are kid-friendly videos appropriate for all ages. Shatha and my daughter Malak both are guilty for watching kids open surprises on YouTube so we thought it would be fun for Shatha to do her own videos. We are open to suggestions and would love to see some interactions on Shatha's channel. Stay tuned for more videos! Our goal is for once a week but we will see how that works out for us :) Thanks all!

International Women's Day 2019

Happy International Women's Day to all the strong, hard working women all over the world fighting to be heard. Think about women everywhere today; the ones who fight every day for basic rights, the ones who die just for a chance to be heard, about the everyday woman struggling to balance work and family and often neglecting her own self-care. Think about your mother. The strong woman who has raised you, put food in your belly, and smiled through her own hurt and pain so you never have to see that inside she is crying. Women of all shapes, colours, sizes, eras are just so amazing. Today's blog post is dedicated to a very special little girl in my life and that is my daughter Malak. I know in my heart that she will grow up to be a strong, confident, and intelligent woman who will make her whole family proud. I'm watching you right now playing on your iPad and sucking on that lollipop (note to self: get Malak to brush her teeth later) and I can see all the wonderful potentia...

Ramadan 2020: Preparations and Resources

Just under a month to go for Ramadan 2020! This year I have put together a nice '30 Days of Kindness' Calendar for Ramadan for children with the help of parents/guardians to follow earn some good deeds this Ramadan. Please feel free to pull and print off and if you would like an emailed PDF version just contact me and I would be more than happy to send it. I printed many copies and will be delivering to friends and family with children that I think would like to do this.   In the past I have tried to do a more festive Ramadan month to put some Barakah back into the month and have it be a joyous occasion for all. It is especially important for children because it helps instill that love of the month for them from a young age. Especially growing up and seeing the temptations of other Holidays and wondering why we don't do anything fun for Ramadan or Eid? Simple decorations and preparations like hanging some lights up across the window, lanterns placed around the...
